The roar of the waterfall was all the Kerl could hear as she trotted through the undergrowth. Breakneck Falls had interested her since she had heard legends about it when she was a pup. Although she hated water, like all wolves, and she fears drowning, this water was only chest-high. Best part was, she could start fresh. Kerl life wasn't suiting her at all. Unari was a pack animal. She needed to have a social life. But that was all about to change. Once she started her new pack, she hoped Tor and Fenris would bless her with a mate and some pups to get the pack started. She also prayed to Tor every day to ask if she could let the prey run free in her territory. Now, Unari was kicking up the leaves as she broke into a small run. Using her tail as a rudder, she ran to the waterfall's small cave and wondered inside. Unari gasped. It was beautiful. Moss had started to grow on the rock wall, and little tiny flowers and ivy wove up around and in it. "Wow," Unari growled quietly. "This is cool." She could hardly hear herself over the roar of the falling water, but she felt like saying something anyways. The cave, she had discovered, wasn't very big. Every few seconds, she would get sprayed by the water being blown into the cave by the wind. Oh well. She couldn't live in the cave, but there were a few dens around in the area and along the banks of the stream. Those would do. Unari padded out of the cave, following a narrow stone path that lead to the undergrowth again. She wondered through the pants some more, brushing up against the plants and such to leave her scent. A rustle in the bushes made her look up. There in the bushes was a small red squirrel. Unari quickly but silently dropped into the hunter's crouch. She crept forward, trying her hardest not to scare her future breakfast. The squirrel was too busy tapping an acorn against a rock to notice his death was creeping slowly toward him. All of the sudden, Unari lunged. The squirrel heard her paws leave the ground because of the leaves she kicked up. But it was too late. The squirrel's neck was torn open, and Unari had made her first kill on this territory. Unari chuckled, pleased with her kill. As she ate, she thought about staying. When she gobbled up the last of her kill, she stopped before nibbling on the tiny bones. This place is mine now, Unari thought. And I must let everyone know. With that thought in mind, Unari threw back her head and howled. The sound sailed up above the treetops and around the forest, saying, Breakneck Falls, Breakneck falls. Come only if you join the pack, or Unari's teeth will find your neck!
