Dead leaves crunched and burnt twigs snapped as Tambar padded through the Charred Forest. He was patrolling the borders, like any good pack member should. Every now and then, he would stop to urinate on a scorched rock or a dead tree. Stay back, the message was mingled with the scent of his urine. Only wolves could smell what it meant. This is Nygus pack territory. Tambar was silent through all of this, in hopes he could possibly snatch a small snack as a gift for his Drappa. A rabbit, perhaps? Or a small red squirrel. Either one would do. A rustle in the singed bushes told him that a Lera was near. He crept closer, trying to see what it was he was trying to kill. Perfect... Tambar thought, crouching down, preparing to pounce. He leaped and landed on top of the ashy bush, scaring whatever it was he was trying to catch. It turned out to be a small brown hare. His claws sunk into the rump of the hare, slowing its forward progress. "You're mine," He snarled, taking a quick nip to the neck of the Lera. When he knew the Lera was dead, he threw back his head and howled to Nygus, wherever she was, Nygus, Nygus! The sound sailed up and around through the charred trees, calling for his Drappa. I've gotten you something.[/blockquote][/font]

Nygus was staring into nothingness, beyond bored. She was about ready to try and dig through the ground if she had to spend one more moment alone! The drappa shook her thick pelt when she heard a howl, directed towards her. Nygus let her lips curl up in a menacing smirk, which looked more like a snarl.
Nygus moved her long, black and white limbs gracefully as she sprinted towards the member of her pack that had called her. Though her pack was small at the moment, Nygus was very happy with the one member. The sound of crunching leaves and branches sounded beneath her paws as Nygus neared Tambar. She soon caught sight of him, and barked her greeting. "Yes? What is it Tambar?"
Anyone could tell that the two-colored drappa was excited - she absolutely adored surprises and gifts! Silvery eyes were opened widely, with a joyful glint in them. It had been a while since Nygus had claimed her territory, the day she had found a young cub. Nygus knew that the little one was safe, though she still was regretful. Nygus hadn't meant to keep the cub, but her weakness towards them made her change her mind. Nygus kept staring at the male wolf, almost to the point where she would be leaping up and down in happiness.

Tambar smirked, lowering his head to pick up his kill. "I've killed you a rabbit." He woofed, wagging his tail slightly. Tambar was happy to see that the Drappa was alive and well - like always. He nudged the Lera toward his leader, bowing his head as he gave her the gift. "Would you like more of it? I'd like to go on another hunt if you do." Tambar was trying not to be too bothersome, but, if he was bothering the Drappa, she could always tell him. He hoped he wasn't, because he always liked to please others when he wasn't focused on himself.

Nygus was very, very happy. It was easy to tell - her tail was wagging and she had an odd look in her dead-looking eyes. She let out a happy bark, and kept the large, teeth-showing smile on her maw. "Why thank you, Tambar!" she barked, putting a paw down on the rabbit. With her mouth, she ripped a chunk of rabbit flesh off, the blood trickling down and staining her white muzzle. After swallowing the large bite she took, Nygus looked up at the male. "Would you like some?" she asked, slightly out of character for the young she-wolf.
Sure, she may have been a wild varg, who loved to fight and was not supposed to be kind, but Nygus had her good moments, too! Silver orbs found their way to an odd something hanging around Tambar's neck. Nygus tilted her head to the side. Her tongue rolled out of her mouth slightly. "What's that?" she asked, ears perked and eyes narrowed the slightest bit.

Tambar gave a wolfish grin at the offer his Drappa had made. "Why, yes, Nygus, I would love some. Thank you for offering." He woofed, wagging his tail again. He lowered his head to tear off a small chunk of meat for himself, when Nygus pointed out the necklace. "What, this?" Tambar asked, holding his paw up to lift the necklace. "It's a necklace. I got it when I was a pup. It's not a Varg thing, but, I knew some humans... They were different than the rest, and they had a Tribe. Sort of like our pack, but, with humans." While he was explaining himself, Tambar made sure not to look Nygus in the eyes, in fear he might arouse anger in her. It was a typical fear wolves had. "Then White Man came, and killed off the Tribe. I never saw the human girl again, I think she's dead. But," He shrugged, trying to hide his pain. "I could be wrong."

Nygus stared at the white wolf for a long moment, shock evident in her silver orbs. She was truely shocked - shocked so much that she couldn't even bring herself to speak. Then, after a few seconds, the she-wolf opened her mouth. "Humans . . . despicable things. Kill without needing . . ." she snarled, memories of the few white men that chased her out of her previous home flittering back into her mind. "But then again, don't us vargs do the same at times?" she questioned, but the question was directed at no one. It was directed mostly to herself.
"I see that this human girl meant a lot to you, but White Men are cruel. They understand nothing of boundaries and killing just what you need!" Nygus was letting her anger get the best of her, and the drappa noticed this when she began to snarl at nothing in particular. Humans had never been very kind to her, but it wasn't like the varg had ever actually met a human!

"I agree," Tambar nodded, pain still noticeable to anyone around him by the way he moved. "Humans are disgusting. They are always controlled by blood lust, and never kill because they have to, but because they want to." Tambar looked puzzled. Only for a moment, he felt a little defensive. "But that's just what I'm trying to say. These Tribe people weren't like that. They respected the Lera, and killed only if it was absolutely necessary." Tambar stopped. It was true, but there was also another side to the story he didn't tell his Drappa. "But the White Man were different. The girl used to tell me that she thought they killed like the weasel - Just for the hell of it. And I always thought Tor and Fenris decided to put humans on earth to keep us in line. But now, I think humans are demons sent by Wolfbane to try and turn us away from our gods." Tambar snarled, the fur on the back of his neck was bristling. "He lures us in with the humans' strange ways, their easy ways. That's exactly what I think, that damned Wolfbane is trying as hard as ever to kill us off!" When it came to Wolfbane, Tor, Fenris or Sitka, Tambar was always one to get into the spirituality part.

Nygus quickly let a small snarl cover her lips. It was a sudden reaction to the wolf's quick personality change. The white and black drappa let the male rant on and on about humans and their sickening ways, and then Wolfbane. Nygus could've choked on the heavy atmosphere after the male had finished. She looked at him thoughtfully, sitting straight as her varg nature would let her.
"I see. I only wish that White Men where as kind as these Tribe human that you speak of," Nygus murmured, looking into nothingness once again. It seemed to be the trend of the day for her - staring into nothing with her silver eyes. She was beginning to worry about her small pack. What if the humans chased them out of their new home? What if they killed them all? The endings were endless, though all sounded rather cruel. Nygus was particularly into the idea of getting stabbed to death by a pointy thing.
"I just hope that they don't do the same . . ." was all that Nygus murmured before shaking her head. "Well . . . I think that we should go for a little patrol around the borders, see if we could pick up something to eat along the way!" Even a half-deaf Lera could hear the strained happiness in the drappa's voice. It was obviously not real, and a cover-up.

Tambar nodded, relieved that the Drappa had decided to change the subject. "I agree," He growled, wagging his tail. "let's go patrol the borders. I hear a new pack moved into Breakneck Falls. They could be a threat." And, indeed they were! Rival wolf packs were always trouble. Those, and the Kerl that lived around in these parts. But the Charred Forest was home to them now, and they had to risk all of what they had to protect it. It was the way of the Varg. Tambar trotted happily in front of the Drappa, stopping after a few bounces. "So where to?" He woofed, giving a wolfish grin.

Nygus let out a low growl at the mention of the new pack. She didn't like having other rival packs so . . . close. But, putting that thought aside, the she-wolf followed Tambar happily. "Lets go check that new border. See what we're up against!" she barked, trotting ahead of the male.
The large drappa hummed an old lullaby as she neared the edge of her territory. She stopped in her tracks suddenly, as she smelt another wolf. Not of her pack. "I smell something . . ." she growled, deeply.

[This is where I feel Unari would fit in nicely. =P]
Now, Unari wasn't the type of Drappa to steal other's territories, but, she felt that looking at the borders wouldn't do much damage. So, indeed she was going to check out the new packs' scent - it was the way of the Varg. Unari came across an unfamiliar scent on a small boulder. She sniffed at it to investigate, but only for that purpose. She did not feel a threat. Stay back, the scent said, Unari could hear the Dragga's voice in the smell. This is Nygus pack territory. Nygus pack, eh? Unari wasn't in the least bit frightened. A new Drappa, perhaps? She ventured a little ways up the border, not crossing it for anything. When she found the Varg that weren't her pack members, she stopped. "Hello!" She called. "I ask Larka's Blessing to enter your territory."

Nygus heard a voice, most likely one of a drappa's, and let out a snarl. She didn't like other packs - especially ones that were near to her borders. "Tambar . . . be on your guard!" Nygus growled to her pack member, and then held her head high. "Fine. You may enter," the drappa barked, ready to spring and attack. She didn't like letting new wolves on her territory, but Nygus knew that she had Tambar to help her protect her, ahem their, territory and that she was perfectly fit.
"Remember Tambar. If they show even one move of hostility, attack." Nygus stood her ground, silver orbs glaring ahead.

Tambar nodded, the fur on the back of his neck was bristling. "Yes, Nygus." He woofed. Unari, the other Drappa, didn't appear to be dangerous, but... There was something about her that Tambar didn't like. She was too dark looking, even for a black wolf. She had an evil look about her. But, he could be wrong. "What is it that you want?" Tambar paused. "What is your name?"

Unari stared, a little annoyed that the first instinct the Drappa had after Unari had asked for Larka's Blessing was to attack. "Well, white wolf," Unari finally woofed, addressing Tambar. "I don't really have a purpose here. I just wanted to check out my territory's neighbors. Forgive me for intruding. My name is Unari." Unari sat, looking at the two other wolves, waiting for a reply.

Nygus snarled quietly, but then took a step forwards. "Since you told us yours, we might as well repay you the favor," Nygus growled, sitting down in front of the black Drappa, "My name is Nygus." Nygus showed very little respect or kindness towards the other she-wolf, the fur on her shoulders pricked. Hatred and hostility was radiating off of the drappa.
"I'm amazed that you would come onto another's territory alone," Nygus said, pointing out that there was no one with Unari at the moment, though she was sure that one was hiding.
